Ok, I'm gonna come out and say it. I'm not a country fan. I don't like it. But, I do like old country and for the sake of being positive, The Charlie Daniels Band is very good.

I like a very limited amount of Country. My favorite country artists are by far Johnny Cash, and Mike Ness who also happens to be the lead singer of Social Distortion.

The closest thing to country that I like is Social D. And, I suppose if folk could be considered a form of "country," then Bob Dylan and some of the earlier Against Me! stuff might qualify.

Bob Dylan could be thrown into the Country mix. And only Mike Ness's solo work from Social D. Though I don't think either Against Me! or Social D. could be considered country.

Social Distortion has elements of country music, for sure. In their early years, they were just a punk band ( Mommy's Little Monster), but after Mike Ness went to jail in the mid-late 80's, their music started to have a distinct element of country in it. Against Me! isn't/wasn't country, however, their early music (back when they were far better than they are now) had clear elements of folk in it, which is similar to country.

They definitely did have some elements of country in their music but I would still consider them more of a punk band than anything.
