I will kick off this sub-forum as well.
This thread is about real punk. None of that Emo-Punk of which I am not a large fan. But I am talking about GBH, Anti-Flag, The Clash, Social Distortion and more. Certainly for the most part the earlier punk bands got it right, and as time goes on it is increasingly rare to find a punk band that gets traditional punk right. I for one blame this on the media. They play nothing but the pop-punk or pseudo-punk, though some of it is good, most of it that they play on the radio/TV a la MTV is awful. They suck the viewers in to the worst kind of "punk" at an early age.

I think Rise Against would fit pretty well with that list of bands you provided.
How do you feel about Sum 41?

Why are you talking about Sum 41 in a thread about punk (even more adamently, "real punk")?
I like a lot of punk, I'm not going to attempt to list all of the bands.

I was asking King Alvarez if he felt that Sum 41 fell into what he considers "real punk" or not.

Oh, I see. I can tell you that they definitely do not.

That is correct, Sum 41, definitely not real original punk.
